U.F.C. 113 Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua

I started following the U.F.C. three years ago, and I find myself enjoying it. Some of these guys are very talented. Although their boxing skills can’t be compared to professional boxers,  they do have a great ground game in  jujitsu and wrestling. this past weekend Lyotto Machida a light heavyweight fought for the second time against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. It was action pack but ended quite quickly in the first round with Shogun winning by k.o.

He caught Machida as he was attacking him with a good punch that knocked him down. Once he was on the floor Shogun got on top him and pounded Machida with unanswered blows to the face.  Machida was unable to defend himself because he was out cold and the referee stop it.

I see a re-match and a tie breaker In the making. Although in the first fight the decision was given to Machida many believe that he had lost. The second time around to Shogun’s credit he didn’t leave any room for the judges to take the victory away from him. Machida was taking the fight to Shogun fighting a lot more aggressive than he did in their first fight. He just got caught and once he went down he just wasn’t able to respond. This is his first loss, and I do believe that in their next fight that he will regain his title. Shogun is one the best, and has had great fights in the past, with this one possibly being one of the most memorable in beating one of the best in the sport. Congratulations Shogun Rua in your victory, can’t wait for the next one.
